Since this is your first encounter with fleas, I suggest you read our FLEA CONTROL article. It will explain all you need to know about this pest including all the treatment methods available.

For starters, you should get your pet to the vet and decide upon some type of topical treatment that you and him will be comfortable using. But don’t stop there. As our article explains, fleas will be living and thriving in the yard and home and the least you’ll need to do will be to treat the home since your pet spends most of his time inside.

Now based on the problem you’ve described, I would say the ONCE A YEAR FLEA TREATMENT combined with a few FLEA TRAPS set out in your home will do the job just fine. The once a year granules are easy to apply, highly effective and very safe. Ideally formulated for use around sensitive animals like cats, this product should be applied to all the carpets and furniture – especially the couches and chairs your cat visits.

The Flea Traps can be real helpful since they will collect and monitor the home for any flea activity you might have otherwise missed. As our article explains, the pets will become the first target of any flea infestation and many times they suffer a long time before the pet owner even knows there is a problem. Flea Traps can help prevent this from happening so get a few and deploy them in the rooms your pet most frequents.
