We're not aware that 20 mule team borax is labeled for controlling fleas in the house. I don't think the company intends to have people using it for this so I'm not sure it's a good idea. We do know the products listed in our FLEA CONTROL ARTICLE will take care of any infestation. They're easy to apply and work well; if you prefer something that's similar to a powder go with the ONCE A YEAR FLEA GRANULES which are both safe to use and very effective. Apply them before you ever get fleas and you'll be flea free for a year or more.

I've heard that 20 muleteam borax can be used for flea control but I can't find fleas on the product label. Is this something you sell or should borax be used for flea control at all?

20 Muleteam Borax has boric acid in it which definitely have insecticidal qualities. In other words, it can kill certain insects under certain conditions. But you point out that the 20 mule team borax label doesn't have fleas listed. This is because the product wasn't designed or made for flea treating. Since we only carry products that are labeled for specific pests or locations, we cannot recommend borax for any kind of flea control.

The good news is that we do have a product which uses boric acid as the active as well as a label for use in carpeting. More importantly, one application can last 6-12 months so yo don't have to apply it over and over again. This is one of the big advantages of our once-a-year flea powder. The big drawback is that because it's so safe, it won't impact adult fleas much so if you have a lot of adults hatching or hopping around, get some Flea Traps to set out around the following the flea granule application. The traps will help collect adults and make everyone (including the pets) a lot more comfortable until the flea cycle is broken and if you read our Flea Control Article, you'll learn that flea control is really flea egg control.
