problem

We have a flea problem in our basement for about 3 months. This is the 2nd time we bombed the basement. We have no problem in the house. Only the basement. We do have a cat, but she is treated and we no longer allow her in the basement. We had an old well in the basement, and left it open for about 1 month to repair cracks because it leaked. But this home has been hooked up to city water for years. We have been buying HOT SHOT spray and 2 kinds of bombs-hot shot and raid. Shouldn’t this been good enough by this time?

We recently bought and moved into a house that was infested with fleas. We have a dog which we treat with frontline. We have been vacuuming the house every day for 3 months now. In addition we have had a exterminator out to spray twice. I have also sprayed (peremthryn and precor) myself a couple times in the 3 month span. The problem has definitely gotten better and we thought we had finally rid the house of the issue. That was until we found a flea on our dog yesterday. This was the first one we have seen in 3 weeks. I gave him a capstar and washed all his bedding. Should I be concerned that we are still infested?

Hello. I’ve been getting bitten in my sleep for a week or so and assumed that fleas were living in my bed. After reading some of your questions, I’ve discovered that fleas don’t live in beds, only on hosts (such as a pet, not a human?) Well, since I started getting bitten I decided that my cats were no longer allowed in my bedroom, so a flea has no host to cling to. Also, our cats were treated for fleas not long ago. Could this be fleas or does it sound like something else? Definately not bed bugs as I’ve done thorough research on them and everything I’ve read cancels them out. Many Thanks.

To Whom It May Concern,

My husband and I recently uthenized our dog and two weeks later we start getting bites and come to the realization that we have fleas.

I had no idea that our dog had fleas, I think that she did not have fleas as we just moved into a new house a year ago and I’m thinking the fleas were here previously none the less we now have fleas.

The fleas in our home only bite 1 person and it is really bad for her on her ankles and legs. Which does not make any sense thinking they would bite everyone else as well. What should I do and what should I be looking for?

We have a dog and had rented an apartment with carpet. We have been out of the apartment for a month. Our lease is up 7/9/2011. Since there has been no food source for the fleas should the apartment be considered free of fleas, eggs, etc. I am curious in case they want to charge me to do pest control for fleas.

I use the liquid flea control treatments on my dog, yet I have found fleas in her fur. Just one or two at a time — and i THOROUGHLY check.  I have given her a flea bath, cleaned everything in the house and have used the powder treatment on carpets, floors and furniture, given her another bath using the shampoo, AND I STILL FIND one or two fleas on her.  I tried to give her a treatment, keep her outside while I cleaned the house, and then shampooed her with the flea shampoo before letting her back in, and this morning — another flea on her. I’m not getting bitten and I haven’t seen any in the house, but I just don’t know what to do!!  is she just getting them outside and they are biting her and dying b/c of the flea treatment (not reproducing?).  I’m at a loss here.

I just moved into a place that had 6 big dogs. Should I remove the carpets? My little dog is showing signs of getting bit by fleas.

I’m not sure what removing the carpets will do but if you’re interested in getting rid of the fleas, you’ll need to treat using one of the methods explained in our FLEA CONTROL ARTICLE. As you’ll learn, it only takes one flea to lay hundreds of eggs and your new rugs will be infested just like the existing ones if you don’t treat. That means your options are either leave the existing rugs and treat them or replace the existing rugs and treat the new ones before they get infested.
Based on these two scenarios, I suggest you install several FLEA TRAPS along with our ONCE A YEAR TREATMENT. In my experience, this has proven to be the most effective and easiest approach to most any flea problem that includes a house with rugs.

Hi,

My wife and I are from Canada and are vacationing in Orange County. We have a challenge we are hoping you can help us solve.

We recently stayed for 2 weeks at a friend’s home – where we found out the hard way – the home had a dog flea problem. It seems fleas will usually munch on pets – but if no pets are around – tourists will do just fine. In this case the pets had been out of the home since January 1 and so had the homeowners so when we arrived on January 16 they said ‘BooYah’ and began munching on our feet, then ankles then legs. At least that is what we think happened.

Hello,
How are you? I am a potential customer who is looking for flea control products that really work. I am looking for my mother who is living in Taiwan, where is very humid and warm. She has been having flea problems for a long time, and she has been fighting with fleas without effective tools.

I have used 20 mule team borax for flea control and was wondering why it didn’t work for me. My friends said it cured their problem but I haven’t been that lucky. Is there something you should do when using it?

I need to get rid of fleas that have taken over our house. The problem started about a month ago and it’s gotten worse and worse. At this point they are pretty much in every room and even the cats don’t want to be on the floor. We’ve set off a bunch of bombs but they only seem to work for a day and the fleas are back. What do you suggest?

I’ve got fleas out in my garage floor that have gotten out of hand. We generally keep the dog out in the garage a lot (we don’t use it for the car) but started noticing fleas so we moved him out. I thought the fleas would die but a couple of weeks later we went in there to get a box and there must have been 50-100 that attacked!! No one wants to go out there anymore but I’ve got to do something to get rid of them. What can I use on cement?
