This is the first time we ever have been infested with fleas. Our dog had them on him and it took us 2 days to realize that he actually had fleas. And then we went to work with bombing the house, vacuuming the carpets and furniture, washing sheets on the bed, throwing out the dogs bed, washing all the dog toys in hot water, and spraying the carpets, flooring, and furniture. The dog has been treated with spot on treatment Frontline Plus, Capstar pills to kill adult fleas, and Program to kill flea eggs and larvae. And he gets a bath at least every 5 days. Since he has been on the Capstar pill I have not seen any fleas on him. But I know we still them since we have flea traps throughout the house and are still catching them. My first question is that if there are no fleas in a trap and it has been 3 weeks does that mean that room has no fleas? Second question is that we live in a 2 family home, with me and my family living on the bottom floor and other relatives living on the top floor, so if we went upstairs or in the car or anyone elses house, could we take the fleas on our clothes and have someone elses home infested or our car? Third and final question is that we are planning on steam cleaning the carpet and have gotten mixed opinions on whether to do it or not, will it help? and if we do treat the carpet/area rugs can we put powders (fleasbuster) down afterwards? How dry does the carpet have to be? Also, if we do steam clean the carpet does that mean fleas will hatch sooner and we can come home to a swarm of fleas afterwork? Just trying to get an idea on this. The dog would not be around when treating, so they won’t after him if we came home, any ideas or suggestions would help. I’m just not sure when this will be over.
My husband entered a home that was flea infested. Not knowing, got back into his car. As we were driving away I noticed them all over him. Before entering our own home, he stripped down and we threw out his clothes and shoes. So, What is the best way to kill the fleas inside the car? And should we treat our own home too?
We have a dog and had rented an apartment with carpet. We have been out of the apartment for a month. Our lease is up 7/9/2011. Since there has been no food source for the fleas should the apartment be considered free of fleas, eggs, etc. I am curious in case they want to charge me to do pest control for fleas.

Yes and no. As explained in our FLEA CONTROL ARTICLE, adult fleas aren’t comfortable out in the open so yes, they can live on a couch. However, they won’t last long. If any person or pet came to the couch, adult fleas on it would naturally seek this warm blooded person or pet hoping to hitch a ride and to take advantage of what this host would provide: a stable living environment. As our article explains, if you left a flea on a couch without food, water or shelter, it would probably die in 5-8 days.
Which months are fleas active in Georgia? I treat my outdoor cats with Revolution but I don’t want to use it unnecessarily – during the months that fleas are inactive. Please advise.
i am in desperate need of an answer (i have looked on many web sites) what to clean my hardwood floor with for fleas. there is a lot of information and products for carpeting but i can’t find an answer for hardwood flooring. i also have my lower level of my home that needs to be treated and it is tile. please help. thank you.

There are many ways an inside pet can develop a flea problem. If you review our online FLEA CONTROL ARTICLE, you’ll learn that fleas abound outside. Commonly found on most any animal active in the neighborhood, these fleas will no doubt be laying eggs and these eggs and other developing stages can end up in your front, side or back yard. When people living in a residence venture outside for a moment or two they are vulnerable to adult fleas. And though the adult fleas don’t like to spend their life on a person, they’ll gladly take a ride and grab a bite to eat along the way as they get carried back inside the dwelling.
would the yr long flea powder work in the walls? what would? we are very badly infested; the bomb did not work!
If you take some time to review our FLEA CONTROL ARTICLE, you’ll see we make no mention of “bombs” as a viable way to treat any flea problem. That’s because they don’t work. All they’ll do is kill exposed fleas and as our article explains, adult fleas only live a few days and die so killing them won’t help the problem. The reason you have a problem is because there are lots of eggs and pupae throughout the home which need to be controlled if want them gone. And as our article explains, you’ll need to treat with some of our sprays or ONCE A YEAR FLEA POWDER if your trying to get rid of them as these are the only good products to use for existing problems. Personally I prefer the Powder because it’s easy to use, works so well on carpets and you only have to apply it once a year. Combined with some FLEA TRAPS set up in the home and you’ll have all you need to break the flea cycle within a few weeks.
can you wash them out of your clothes? wash with what?
Fleas are easy to wash out of clothing. If you read through our FLEA CONTROL ARTICLE, you’ll learn they commonly jump on people and get on their clothing. But you’ll also learn adult fleas need a host on which to live and clothing isn’t the best place for them to complete their life cycle. In fact, most will die unless they make it a bit further like on the person underneath all that clothing! But if you have been finding fleas on your clothes and want to wash them extra good, get some of the KLEEN FREE CLOTHING DETERGENT. We mostly sell this product for use where Lice have been active but it’s recommended for fleas as well.

After renters departed (with their 3 pitbulls)…
After 1 week the room the dogs were in was flea infested. We treated with store bought products
After 2 wks fleas had spread through-out house, We again treated while painting.
After 3 wks we bombed.
Now there are small fleas still inside
I ordered your product and in conjunction with Ultracide for my house, I am hoping to be rid of those dastardly fleas. I have 5 cats. They have never been outside a day in their life, but I have probably brought fleas in and have had 5 cats in misery despite the fact that for the past 4 months, they have been on Frontline Plus. Another mystery to me.
Do you carry any non-toxic spray for fleas and their eggs?
We have some really low impact type sprays and treatment options that you might can call a non-toxic spray for fleas. Mind you these won’t work as quickly because they won’t be acutely toxic. But they will be equally if not better in the long run. As explained in our FLEA CONTROL article, breaking the flea cycle is paramount to long term flea control.
I’ve heard that 20 muleteam borax can be used for flea control but I can’t find fleas on the product label. Is this something you sell or should borax be used for flea control at all?
